Our family decided that we wanted a dog and I decided that I wanted a Catahoula Leopard dog. I found this cutie at www.petfiinder.com. With the holiday weekend coming up there are a number of people out at Jay's office. That made his calendar clear yesterday so he took the day off to drive to the Grant County Animal Shelter in Williamstown Kentucky. It took him about three hours to get there. She rode home in the backseat of the car. Jay said she put her head on his shoulder while he drove. She is going to fit right in because she gets car sick just like the boys! Luckily Jay is a pro at clean up by now!
She is such a gentle sweetheart! She and Alie met and it seems like they are going to get along pretty well as cats and dogs go. The boys didn't know that Jay was picking her up so they were surprised when they got home from school. Marly says she is perfect. Emery says she rawks. With the shopping that we had to do at Petsmart yesterday, it's a good thing that we didn't have to do much back to school shopping this year! Thanks to Shannon at the Grant County Animal Shelter for her e-mails and for holding her for us. We named our new addition Lacey. She is a Catahoula Leopard/Australian Cattle dog (Blue Heeler). I'm just going to say Catahoula. She has great markings. She is around six to eight months old (I'm sure the vet will be able to give us a better idea when we take her later this week). I told the boys they'd have to keep their toys and shoes picked up if we got a dog. I think she's going to force us to keep the house picked up and I think she has a foot fetish. She has tried to run off with one of Marly's Crocs, one of Jay's sandals, one of my sandals, two of Jay's socks, one of Marly's socks, my foot file from the bathroom and a jar of peppermint foot soak! Our hearts go out to the family that had to give her up. We've been there and it's so hard! I hope they know that she has found her forever home. It looks like we are going to have to keep everything out of her reach. She has taken magazines off the table, an ink pen, a pair of scissors... Apparently I need to have the carpet cleaned again because she keeps finding spots to paw and tug on!
