Welcome back to the Divine Passionately Pink Blog Party!
After cleaning the pink out of my closet yesterday, I forgot to show you my favorite pink thing. As a girl who doesn't "do pink", this might surprise you! It's the purse that I have been carrying everyday since I got it in July. I've convinced myself that it's not "pink" - it's dusty rose or mauve. In honor of breast cancer awareness month, I'll tell you that my dad would call it titty brown. The purse came in brown (which is often my color of choice), but the awesome stitching didn't show off as well.

I am passionate about breast cancer awareness, because I lost a dear friend to breast cancer. Unfortunately that still doesn't make me do my monthly self exams (I'm currently a DD and they are rather dense and fibrous). I've had two surgeries to remove breast tissue - praise the Lord the tissue was benign. OK - back to my friend, Ginny. We met Ginny when she was very pregnant with her first daughter. She was a school teacher and my mom took care of her daughters while she was working - they became like little sisters to me. Sometimes Ginny helped me with my papers (she was an English teacher) and sometimes she helped me with life. I remember after my divorce her telling me that it was a good thing because she never would have gotten through her battle with breast cancer without her husband (if my first husband could not stick through one year a marriage, he would not have been able to stick through a battle such as this). Praise the Lord that now I have a husband who stands by me! The last time that we saw Ginny was on our wedding day (14 years ago this month). I did not know that she was still battling. That day she talked to us about how important church was and to go every week as a family. We are trying to follow her advice and look forward to seeing her in heaven one day. She passed away the month her oldest daughter turned thirteen. It was the saddest loss I've experienced.

This is a picture of Ginny with my mom on our wedding day. It's an older layout and I apologize that I am unable to list all of the credits. I think the flowers are Christina Renee. I think the wing brushes were from a collection called Found Art by someone at Scrap Artist. I think the paper is probably by Sunfire.
I know - the real reason that you are here is for the freebie - so here it is
