Here is my layout (I used both the mini and add-on). We will be celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary next month! Engagement picture top left, other photos were taken last fall. I haven't changed much, right?!

I wanted to point out the mask and give directions on how I intended it to be used when I designed it (of course you can use it any way you want - it could be a mat or a normal mask as well).

Open mask png in your program of choice, duplicate the layer and lock the layers together. Add your photo (or photos) and position it between the two mask layers. Create a clipping mask (the photo takes on the shape of the mask). Position your photo or resize as needed. Select the top mask layer and play with the blending mode to create a pop-art effect.

In the midst of summer, choosing curriculum, continuing my quest for good gluten-free recipes and wondering when I'm going to find time to design something new, I'm taking the time to slow down and pray for our boys. Once again I've joined the 21 Days of Prayer for Sons challenge. In her latest version of Warrior Prayers, Brooke L. McGlothin has added study questions. I am really enjoying this time of reflection. There is also a new leaders guide available and I'm excited to have new momma and old friend, Alle leading my group. It's not too late to join us! We just started on Wednesday and so far have prayed for Heart Change, Submission to Authority and Integrity.

I feel like I haven't designed anything in a while, but that's not really true, I've done FIVE collabs this month. The thing about collabs, you're given the color palette and theme so they often feel forced. Here is what I've done.

"Father May I" with the designers at Divine Digital was easiest for me. The colors are right up my alley and my grunge style work great with this masculine kit.

Next was "iJournal" with the designers at Scrap Delicious. I love this grunged journaling spot!

"iPhotography", again with the designers at Scrap Delicious is an awesome kit! I love the neutral colors! My quick page is pretty sweet.

Yet another collab with the designers at Scrap Delicious, "Fun in the Sun"! This one felt a bit forced to me. I do love the way the front paper turned out - kind of water color-ish and who doesn't want to go four wheeling on the beach?!

Finally, I just completed "The Final Frontier" today with the designers at Faith Sisters. These bright colors were hard for me, but I think it came together okay. The button is far out! I am pleased with the quick page that I made with this mini kit.

Last week of 21 Days of Warrior Prayers

I fell off the prayer wagon this week. I got through days one and two, but still need to work through the rest. This week's topics were self-control, anger (Marly needs those prayers the most right now), salvation (the most important prayer), heart change, honesty and humility. I guess I fell off the wagon because I didn't have a set time for my prayers. I have been very pre-occupied with researching home-schooling. The four of us feel that's the way God is leading us and are excited about choosing our curriculum for the coming year. I had forgotten how many families we know who home school until I checked out a local home school group with a friend - I knew four families there, plus a couple others that I have crossed paths with in the past. I am thankful that the Lord put me in touch with some of these moms again, they'll be very helpful as we establish our home school routine.

Continuing the Prayer Challenge

This week we continued praying through the fruits of the Spirit; patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and gentleness.

Pray with us!

While I pray through each of the ten prayers each day, I always seem to pick my favorites, the ones that really speak to me, our boys and current situations. I think that is natural, God meets us where we are. However, I felt a bit of guilt because there are some verses where there is a word that I don't really "like" or some wording that doesn't really fit the world's vocabulary or understanding. Take for instance the first prayer of the week - May Emery and Marly be examples of suffering and patience (James 5:10). Who wants more suffering?! With everything that we have been going through with Emery's stomach cramps and school absences, I feel like we've had enough suffering! Or there is this prayer from our day on kindness, Let Emery and Marly's speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that they may know how they ought to answer each person (Colossians 4:6). I'm all for gracious speech and knowing how to answer others, but seasoned with salt? What was Paul talking about? A bit of flavor, a bit of sting?

After Emery being the target of a bullying incident at church last night, it was hard today to pray for gentleness today! I want him to have God's strength and stand up to his Goliaths! I could relate to Brook's words today about aggression manifesting itself in different ways. Our boys aren't the physical type (occasionally they will get physical with each other, but they don't play rough like many other boys often do). They are more the competitive intellectuals. While I want them to be gentlemen, I don't want them to be cornered by bullies, crying.

For those of you who have been praying for Emery, thank you. He had an upper GI with small bowel follow through on Monday and they didn't find anything. On Tuesday he had lots of cramping, but after drinking all of that barium (thankfully flavored with copious amounts of strawberry Quik), I'm thinking that's not out of the ordinary. Since then he has had good days. We met with our nurse practitioner yesterday and she educated us on his blood tests, what everything was, what was low, what causes it to be low and what we were going to do to bring his levels up to normal. He is certainly gluten intolerant, if not a Celiac as his body has created antibodies against gluten. It's also recommended that we cut out those foods loaded with omega-6 fatty acids - seeds, nuts (peanut butter), soy, avocado, chicken and turkey as they are inflammatory. We met with the school this week and know that they will not hold him back (in spite of his 44 absences). That's a relief - I was all keyed up to fight that possibility! We have been talking to friends about homeschooling and I checked out a huge stack of books from the library to help us decide if it's right for our family, to determine what their learning styles are and what type of curriculum we might want to use. While I know it won't be easy, I am rather excited about it!

Pray with us!

I have seen servant hearts in our boys. May they both serve wholeheartedly, as if they were serving the Lord, not men. (Ephesians 6:7).

Emery is still struggling with abdominal issues, missing school and I am loosing my job because of it. Honestly I need to pray these prayers for myself as well. May the joy of the Lord be Emery's strength (Nehemiah 8:10). May the God of hope fill Emery with all joy and peace as he trusts in him, so that he may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13). May Emery count it all joy when he meets trials of various kinds, as the testing of his faith produces steadfastness. May he let steadfastness have its full effect, that he may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing (James 1:1-4). May the God of hope fill Emery with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit he may abound in hope (Romans 15:13). Now may the Lord of peace himself give Emery peace at all times in every way (2 Thessalonians 3:16). Peace God leaves with Emery; His peace He gives to Emery. Not as the world gives does God give. Let not Emery's heart be troubled, neither let him be afraid (John 14:27). May Emery be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage others. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with him (2 Corinthians 13:11).

Marly often feels it isn't fair that Emery gets to stay home when he has to go to school. He gets bored when he has to accompany us to any afternoon doctors appointments. He needs prayers too. May Marly honor his father and mother, for this is the first commandment with a promise (Ephesians 6:2). May our sons love one another earnestly from a pure heart (1 Peter 1:22).

I am sincerely frustrated with the world; with medical doctors and with school administration. Between Emery's health, things at school, the possibility of gifted services being cut if the levy doesn't pass and me losing my job, I am beginning to think seriously about home schooling...

On a lighter note, I am going to be joining the team at Scrap Delicious! I've been going through my designs at Faith Sisters, deciding which products I'm going to retire (you can get them at a huge discount by the way) and which products will be offered at my new shop. Reflecting On Week One

It's been a blessing to pray scripture for our boys each day this week. As I reflected, what struck me is that I think everyone, whether they are believers or not, want their sons to be obedient, to submit to authority, to have integrity and avoid foolishness. Thursday's focus, pride is different. The world seems to be concerned about building up the self-confidence of it's children. Proverbs 16:18 reminds us that we should not have a haughty spirit, for pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. I pray that our boys would have God-confidence, not self-confidence. Today's focus, purity is different too. There is not much of that in this world. I love today's verses. Philippians 4:8 hangs on the memo board in their room and we reflect on it regularly. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

I look forward to continuing this prayer journey, 21 Days of Prayers for Sons.

Day One & Two ~ Obedience & Submission to Authority

In my excitement to begin this journey I think I've jumped ahead! This prayer challenge is for the week days, day two doesn't start until Monday so there is plenty of time for you to get started!

Since our Moms in Touch group disbanded I have gotten away from praying scripture over our boys. So refreshing to be doing it again! I should have started earlier in the day with my prayers for obedience because we had a very trying evening with Marly. Unfortunately it was part our fault for taking him someplace he didn't want to be when he wasn't feeling well. As I have prayed the ten prayers for each of these first two days, these are the ones that really touched my heart for my "warriors":

Whether it is favorable or unfavorable, may Emery and Marly obey the LORD our God...so that it will go well with them (Jeremiah 42:6).
May Emery and Marly walk after the LORD their God and fear Him and keep His commandments and obey His voice. May they serve Him and hold fast to Him (Deuteronomy 13:4).
May Emery and Marly obey Jesus' commandments, and remain in His love (John 15:10).
May Emery and Marly obey their leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over their souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning (Hebrews 13:17).
May Emery and Marly, who are younger, be subject to the elders. May they clothe themselves with humanity toward others, for "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble" (1 Peter 5:5)
For freedom Christ has set us free; may Emery and Marly stand firm therefore, and not submit again to a yoke of slavery (Galatians 5:1).

I had a hard time embracing the palette for the "Christmas in the City" late November Download-a-Day at Divine Digital. It looked good as five individual mini kits (I really wasn't excited about the lavender day), but as a full kit, it looks rather disjointed! I LOVE the traditional color part of it and the Joy to the World "rub-on", but just don't feel it with that fuchsia and lavender!

With the preview appearing split, it gave me the idea of a he said/she said yin & yang layout. Since I'm the only female in our house and I'm not a girlie girl, I don't have any photos for this type of layout, but I thought someone might!

Yesterday there was a plea for help - two designers were needed to put together the download-a-day that starts TOMORROW! Call me crazy, but I agreed to help. I have been working on site collaboration kits for both of my shops with similar themes and colors so I figured I could pull it off. At this point I don't want to design another Christmas kit - especially not one that has the color pink in it! I'm not totally thrilled with 100 percent of it (that lavender threw me for a loop), but it's done!

Seventh Heaven

I get my design inspiration from all sorts of places. My newest digital scrapbooking kit was actually inspired by one of the bible studies that I am currently doing, Here and Now... There and Then by Beth Moore. While I'm not a huge Beth Moore fan, I couldn't resist studying the book of Revelation (despite the fact that I'm also studying Isaiah through Bible Study Fellowship this year).

This new mini kit, Seventh Heaven kind of a short bible study on the word seven. "The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches." ~ Revelation 1:20 Beth says that in the bible seven stands for perfection and completion. Who is not looking forward to that?! The other reason it seemed like a good idea to do a kit inspired by the number seven is to celebrate my baby boy's seventh birthday this month!

The kit includes seven 12 x 12 jpg papers and seven png elements all created and saved at 300 ppi.

I enjoy designing, love being a part of the team at Faith Sisters and was also invited back to Divine Digital, but I really wish I could find a shop to sell my designs where I could regularly find new stuff my style (not cutesy and flowery).

I don't buy a lot of personal use stuff, but I couldn't resist this Hands Across the Gulf charity kit available at After Five Designs! Yes, it was $10, but 100% of the proceeds from this kit will be donated to the National Wildlife Federation and to the United Way's Gulf Recovery Fund. The kit is huge! Although the first thing I did was delete most of the buttons, bows and flowers! Of course that's just me! LOL! I used the collection for layouts of this years beach vacation and ended up with ten layouts! I am sure I will get more use out of it. Hopefully this slide show will upload so you can see the layouts.

Want to shake up your digi scrapping mojo? Why not participate in our "gift exchange"?!

Join our birthday celebration by participating in this gift exchange and be blessed twice!

You will scrap a layout with someone else's pictures and they will scrap a layout with your pictures! I will be coordinate partnering up everyone who signs up.

What you need to do:

1. Register at Faith Sisters if you have not already.
2. Reply to the Gift Exchange thread at Faith Sisters (found under the Birthday 411) by Saturday, August 28th that you'd like to participate.
3. Select a few pictures to be scrapped (your partner will have creative license to use one or all of the pictures).
4. Upon receiving your private message from me here at Faith Sisters (on Sunday, August 29th), connect with your assigned partner and exchange pictures (either via e-mail or a file sharing site).
5. Tell your partner a little bit about the photos (who, what, when, where, why) to help them with any title or journaling they might want to include on the layout.
6. Scrap the layout for your partner (making sure to keep track of credits).
7. On Friday, September 3rd participate in the reveal by posting your layout in the gallery here at Faith Sisters and replying to this thread with an image of the layout (I will pm reminders).
8. Provide your partner with a print quality (300 ppi) jpg file (either via e-mail or a file sharing site).
9. Enjoy exercising your creative muse!

Eat, Pray, Love & Beth Moore

This weekend I headed to Lexington, Kentucky with seven girl friends that I've done bible study with over the past couple of summers. We were going to see Beth Moore. I have not been a big fan of Beth Moore. She is cute, always wearing stylish clothing, has not a hair out of place, she's perky, passionate and to me, annoying. (She even admitted on stage that she is obnoxious). My girl friends love her. Some of them seem to be obsessed, which makes me dislike Beth even more. I kind of felt like I'd be an outsider on the trip, but I ended up being blessed!

After skipping dinner and standing in line in the heat for around 45 minutes, we entered the arena, made our way down, across the floor and up to the second row near the stage. As we waited for the conference to begin, I suggested that we all go see Eat, Pray, Love that night after we left the arena. Praise and Worship was amazing with 11.000 women (and a handful of men)! As Beth took the stage and introduced the theme of the weekend, we found it extremely ironic that it was Eat, Love, Pray!

The most amazing thing about the weekend was that we all clearly heard God speak through Beth Moore to our dear friend, Tina, who's life was turned upside down this May. We heard things for her over and over again AND then Beth left the stage, knelt next to Tina, placed her hand on her arm and spoke to her (it couldn't have been more personal than if she had called her by name).

Our group didn't make it to the movie, but Tina and I went to see Eat, Pray, Love last night. Strangely, lines in the movie continued the weekend messages for Tina. It also brought her understanding and peace about punishment of the one who has wronged her, regardless of what the legal system decides.

For those of you wondering how Beth Moore tied in Eat, Pray, Love to her biblical teaching, here are the key verses from the weekend:

Jeremiah 2:7 ~ I brought you into a fertile land to EAT its fruit...

Jeremiah 15:16 ~ When your words came I ATE them; they were my joy and my heart's delight...

Jeremiah 29:12 ~ You will call upon me and come and PRAY to me, and I will listen to you.

Jeremiah 33:3 ~ Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things that you do not know.

Jeremiah 31:3 ~ I have LOVED you with an everlasting LOVE, I have drawn you with loving-kindness.

Jeremiah 33:11 ~ Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good, His LOVE endures forever.

I pray that we continue to hear God speak, that he will make Tina feel alive and that Tina will some day open her heart to love again. As for me, I will try to be more accepting of others' passion. Beth reminded me that we were never meant to detach ourselves from what God has called us to do. I know that I've been called to be a mom and I will try not to get anxious about what He has in store for me once my baby starts first grade later this month. I will continue to pray to God, knowing that He will answer me and tell me great and unsearchable things that I do not know.
